Anogia (アーノギア) is a male character in Luminous Arc 3. He is one of the main antagonists of the second half of the game, but he can become a playable ally at the end of the game, if certain requirements are met.

Lapis[]

Anogia was said to be a wielder of the Violet Lapis, like Glen, but in reality it was a little more complicated. Initially, Anogia was the Star Eyes like Levi, so to the outside world he appeared as the owner of the Twin Lapis. But after choosing to side with Nefiria and Yorg (just as Levi chose to side with Felicia and Smirsaff), his Twin Lapis most likely became one (just like Levi's) and was dyed with Tenness Lux to the point that it appeared(?) violet. It's also worth mentioning that all Nefiria's lapises are violet. The part of the Star Grimoire (written by the Holy Witch Siville) that was torn away and hidden by Valerie, contained the following description:

Now Anogia has become the Violet Lapis... shining with the Light of Death that surpasses even Telos...

Anogia's Lapis is located on his stomach. We only see him in his untransformed(?) form / without armor in CGs in Miria's Intermission (wearing Urgard's uniform) and in his ending (wearing a suit).

Plot[]

Initially, Anogia is mentioned as the legendary hero who saved the world from the Judgement of Time, along with Holy Witch Siville and the Angel. But later it turns out to be a heavely falsified version of history, possibly intentionally distorted by Valerie.

However, it's true that Anogia was also a legendary knight and the only 7-Star Magi in the history of Urgard (before Levi).

Valerie[]

Anogia was the only one who helped Valerie, when she was persecuted by humans for being the Priestess of Tenness Lux Miria. That's why Valerie loves Anogia with unconditional, yet unrequited love. For her, Anogia is equal to god, and even though he was just using her, she wouldn't mind, as long as she could be with him. Anogia probably thought of her as useful tool in achieving his goals, because she could hear Miria's voice. In Chapter 23, Valerie protects Anogia from a fatal blow by Levi. Before she dies, we are introduced to her backstory from a 1000 years ago by Aulmorde. Magus meet and fight Valerie's "wraith" one last time, at the Demon Realm in Chapter 25. Depending on the route, if Anogia is in the party, he will finish Valerie off with his own hands, as he feels responsible for "driving her to this point". If Anogia wasn't recruited, Magus will arrive at the scene where Anogia was given a lethal wound by Valerie and he dies soon after the fight between Magus and Valerie. In this route, he's not able to reach Yorg, so he hands over the Star Key to Levi before he dies.

Yorg[]

Yorg plots to reverse the Time of the Sun and for that reason a 1000 years before the events of the game, she brings Anogia to her side. She does that by lying to him that if he wakes up to the power of Tenness Lux, he can live forever with Miria. It works, because Yorg knows that Anogia is in love with Miria and he despairs about gradually losing his humanity due to his fate of Star Eyes.
When Anogia learns from Magus that he has been deceived, he swears to take revenge on Yorg for using him. However, the only way to defeat Yorg is through the use of the Star Key wielded by the Aura Lux Star Eyes (the power opposite to Tenness Lux). That's why Anogia eventually hands over the Star Key to Levi, because only he can kill her.

Miria[]

Anogia is in selfish love with Miria. When he loses the battle with Magus at the Night Fort and Levi is about to offer the Aura Lapis to Miria, Anogia seeing that he's about to lose her, summons the Star Key and wants to kill Miria. It's not directly stated, but it can be assumed by the lines Anogia says: "Miria's mine, forever mine! I won't anyone take her away, I'd rather...".
Anogia's love for Miria can be probably called unrequited. She never speaks to him while she's dyed in Tenness Lux, because of which Anogia despairs, as seen in a scene before the fight at the Night Fort. Although that might be simply because she's unable to speak while she's in Twilight state without Star Eyes. In the route where Anogia joins the party, Miria tells him that "they used to have a bond, but you (Anogia) threw it away" and convinces him to help Magus. If Seraphic Ring side quest is completed, Miria will also go to the human world and you will have a chance to trigger an Intermission with her. If you get a Best Break, Anogia will appear out of nowhere and you'll get a special CG with Miria and Anogia together in Urgard's uniforms.

Violet Knight / Black Knight[]

Layla mentions that Anogia used to be called the Invincible Black Knight a 1000 years ago.

Unlock[]

If Levi chooses to forgive Anogia, he will join you and Miria will disappear from this world. But if Seraphic Ring is repaired, Miria will come to human realm and visit Urgard, instead of returning back to heaven.

In order to unlock Anogia, you have to make specific decisions during the story.

During Chapter 19, after you fight Anogia the first time, he asks Levi what he desires. You must choose the response "desire for power."

During Chapter 21, as Magus prepares to go to the Valley of Kings, they ask Levi what he'll do if they run into Glen. You must choose the response "I'm prepared for that."

Next, in Chapter 23, choose to defeat Valerie first. This will save Glen, and add him back to the party. In subsequent playthroughs, he will not leave the party despite leaving in the story.

Finally, in Chapter 24, you fight Anogia and Miria. You must defeat all enemies, including Miria, before defeating Anogia.

If the choices were chosen correctly, Levi will spare Anogia and he will join your party.

Intermission[]

Anogia spends most of his free time at the Knight Club, if he moves to Urgard in Chapter 24. And that's where his only Intermission takes place.
Anogia also makes an appearance in Miria's Intermission, if the player fullfills the requirements for her to come to Urgard.

Battle[]

You face Anogia two times in the game. The first one is at the Royal Palace and the second one is at the Night Fort.

Stats[]

Anogia's only drawback is his very low movement (2), but due to the new game mechanic this is no problem at all. His attack and magic stat are second only to Levi, and his other stats are quite well-balanced too.

Anogia exceeds in both types of attack as his final skill physical attack has always 100% accuracy and can pierce two units at time. Also, you can put Stone Wall to increase his defensive side. Since his resistance stat is somewhat low, you can put on some Day Charm to reduce damage from some powerful dark-elemental enemies.

Trivia[]

  • Anogia is the first playble male light-elemental user in Luminous Arc series. He is also the only warrior-type to has more Magic than the spellcaster counterpart.
  • Although Anogia is a light user, his appearance does seem to be a darkness user.
  • Both Anogia and King Solomon are voiced by the same voice actor (Masayuki Katou), which is kind of funny, because it means that the same actor had to voice both the killer and his victim.
  • The lance (ランス) Anogia uses is of the same class of weapon as Richter's lance in Luminous Arc 2.
  • If you unequip and sell Anogia's lance after he joins your party in Chapter 24, leaving him unarmed, and then talk to the Item Shop Clerk behind the counter, you will trigger the hidden dialogue in which you get either the Brionac or the Gungnir.
  • Anogia is the only playable character in Luminous Arc 3 that doesn't have a Bath Event.
