Hina Meyer (ヒヨ) is a minor unplayable character in Luminous Arc 3. Along with her twin sister - Hiyo, they run Alchemy Workshop at the Urgard Academy under Principal Kirika. Their motto is "Alchemy Workshop for fun and also for money".

Levi meets Hina and Hiyo for the first time in Chapter 2. Alchemy sisters force him to visit their Alchemy Workshop and explain him the rules upon which it operates.

Characteristic[]

Her bright character is symbolized by the sun and her appearance is stylised this way.

Hina and Hiyo are members of the Meyer's family. They are daughters of the Master Meyer - well-known and very talented alchemist. They had to grow up early (their father has fallen ill due to workaholism when they were 9). Master Meyer taught them everything they know and even though he was pretty harsh on them, Hina and Hiyo have a great respect for him as a craftsman and their mentor.

Hina was given a rare blue gallstone, by her father, Master Meyer. She treasures it greatly and she never showed it to anyone except for Levi in one of her Intermissions. Her father wouldn't let her eat until she was able to see the flaw on it.

Alchemy Sisters play the supporting role in Seraphic Ring side quest.

Trivia[]

  • Both Hina and Hiyo like rhymes.
  • Hina is the older of the twin sisters.
  • Hina's left eye is brown and her right eye is blue, while Hiyo's left eye is blue and her right eye is brown.
  • Both Hina and Hiyo were voiced by the same voice actress (Asami Shimoda).

Gameplay[]

Hina can improve player's weapons based on:

  • materials acquired through killing mobs
  • information acquired through using the same weapon in multiple battles

If you bring Hina enough materials or information, you can buy improved weapons from her sister - Hiyo.
Hina can also buy player's unneeded materials for money.

Intermissions[]

All Hina's Intermissions start at the Alchemy Workshop.
In the first Hina's Intermission, you accidentaly meet Elisa. It's the only chance to convince her to work in the Knight Club (you have to make the right dialogue choices).

Rhymes[]

When Levi meets the Alchemy Sisters for the first time in Chapter 2, next in Chapter 7, and also after Hina's final third intermission, they say the following rhyme, which is a wordplay with references to Japanese culture:

Alchemy Sisters: おいでませ~錬る錬る寝るねぇ / Oidemase ~ neru neru neru nē / Come in, smith, smelt, sleep
Hiyo: 錬るコも育つ / Neruko mo sodatsu / Smithing/Smelting children grow
Hina: 寝るコも育つ / Neruko mo sodatsu / Sleeping children grow
Alchemy Sisters: 何がでるかなぁ / Nani ga deru ka nā / What we will grow up into? / I wonder what will come out?
Hiyo: 錬れば錬るほど~ / Nereba neru hodo... / The more you smith/smelt...
Hina: テーレッテレ~!/ Terettere!
Hiyo: 錬って楽しい錬金工房~ / Ren tte tanoshī renkin kōbō ~ / Alchemy Workshop for fun.

Neru (錬る) - smith/smelt/knead sounds the same as Neru (寝る) - sleep, which is a reference to the Alchemy Workshop Hina and Hiyo run together and also to Hiyo's sleeping habits.
This rhyme is also a reference to a Japanese saying "Sleep brings up a child well" (寝る子は育つ - Neru ko wa sodatsu).
Finally, Nerunerunerune (ねるねるねるね) is a brand name of Japanese DIY sweets for kids, which also aligns with Hina and Hiyo being young girls doing alchemy. The rhyme that Alchemy Sisters say is a reference to Nerunerunerune commercial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t7egj0jQPfM
「ねるねるねるね」は、へっへっへ / "Nerunerunerune" wa... hehehehe...
ねればねるほど色が変わって / Nereba neru hodo iro ga kawatte / The more you twist it, the more it changes color
こうやってつけて、、、/ Kō yatte tsukete... / Put it on like this, and...
うんまい!!/ Umai! / Delicious!
♪テーレッテレー / ♪ Terettere
ねっておいしい!/ Nette oishī! / Delicious after kneading!
ねるねるねーるね / Nerunerunerune
